Invite the Uninvited

Luke 14:12-14 Jesus teaches his disciples to be generous and hospitable to those who are social outcasts and typically ignored. The kingdom of God is not just for the ones who are born into privileged circumstances, but rather for all those that God invites and that includes people who we at times deem to be unworthy. Jesus addresses the host of the banquet and asks who he normally invites to these gatherings. And Jesus says to instead invite those who are normally not invited due to physical and economical deficiencies. This is counter cultural because these people were viewed as cursed sinners. Association with them meant my own uncleanliness but Jesus says to invite them openly. Jesus also says that we seek repayment of equal value from those that we normally invite but he says that we should invite those that cannot repay us and rather to set our sights on a greater repayment from a different source. God is of course that source and our godliness in earthly life will be rewarded most gloriously upon Christ's return.
