Commitment

Luke 16:18

The message from Christ is clear; that we can only truly serve one master because that which takes us away from God is in itself in opposition to God. Our affection, love, desire and attention must not be driven from God. Jesus teaches in this single verse that our relationship to God is like that of a marital commitment where our "all" must be for God. No man, or person, can say that they love their partner and at the same time have love for another. Feelings may tempt us but we are not to succumb to those feelings. We are to commit to God as we commit to our partners; forever. Let us not be driven away from God by such temporal and petty things of this world. Let us not follow our emotions but the Lord Almighty.
